BIOGRAPHY

Since completing his degree in 2016 at the Royal Academy of Music, Louis Dowdeswell has flourished in the London music scene as both a trumpet player and producer.

He started his music education after being offered scholarships to Wells Cathedral School and the Purcell School. He has studied with Wayne Bergeron, Gary Grant, Simon Gardner, Mike Lovatt, Mark David, Nick Smart, Steve Waterman and Paul Beniston. A major part of his commercial trumpet training was the National Youth Jazz Orchestra with whom he played lead trumpet with between 2012 and 2014 and took part in a BBC Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Louis has performed with artists such as Al Jarreau, Michael Buble, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Sheridan Smith, Peter Andre, Hamish Stuart, Josh Groban, Seal, Alfie Bowe, Michael Ball, Brendan Cole, and many more. His TV credits involve playing on the X Factor as part of the big band, Tonight at the Palladium, Buble at the BBC and Children in Need, to name a few. Orchestras he has been involved with, include the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, English National Orchestra, and the English Session Orchestra.

Louis’ YouTube channel has amassed more than 3.5 millions views and is the most popular big band channel on the site. He plays, films and produces everything that he posts online and is very fortunate to work closely with his colleague and friend Callum Au, who arranges the music for the channel.

Over the past couple of years, Louis has performed his YouTube hits to audiences around Europe, as a guest soloist with many different bands/ensembles. This also gives him a chance to take clinics and masterclasses for players of all ages and to share his knowledge.

West End musical credits include Aladdin, Beautiful, Wicked, Big the Musical, Elf the Musical, Motown, Guys and Dolls, Barnum, High Society, Dance ’till Dawn, Last Tango, 42nd Street and Big the Musical.

Recording is a passion of Louis’ and he always loves being involved in sessions. He has played at world renowned studios such as Abbey Road, Air Lyndhurst, Angel Studios and Maida Vale. As a producer, Louis has his own recording studio, documenting and distributing projects from start to finish for clients. He also uses this space for remote sessions giving him the ability to play on tracks from artists all over the world.

Louis will be releasing his debut album in 2018, collating his finest recordings to date. It will also include some new tracks, exclusive to the record.
